Why pigeon nets
Pigeon nets are for anyone who is tired of cleaning droppings off the balcony, hearing birds in the duct at dawn, or finding a nest behind the AC unit. Spikes and gels only move the birds along. A properly sealed net takes away the landing spot altogether without harming a single bird — and for an apartment association it can cover a whole block's ducts in one job.

Pigeon nets, bird netting and duct area nets
Pigeon nets are the one pigeon solution that is both humane and permanent. Fine bird netting closes the openings pigeons use — balconies, ledges, AC platforms and the duct areas between flats — so there is nowhere left to land or nest.
Why most pigeon netting fails within a year
Pigeons do not need much. A corner left open where the net meets a beam, a sag along the top edge, a duct net tied with cord that has rotted — they will find it, and they will be back inside within months. The job is sealing every edge to the structure, not just hanging a net across the middle.
What pigeon nets actually are
Bird netting is a fine, UV-treated nylon mesh fixed across an opening that birds use, sealed to the walls, beams and ledges around its edges so there is no way round it. On balconies it is called a pigeon net; in the shaft between flats that carries plumbing and AC pipes it is called a duct area net. It is a physical exclusion, not a deterrent: the birds are kept out rather than scared off.

Materials and fixing
We use UV-treated nylon mesh with a 1-inch (25 mm) aperture, in transparent or black, which keeps out pigeons as well as smaller birds. The mesh is fixed to a stainless-steel wire rope that runs around the whole perimeter and is sealed to the structure on stainless-steel hooks set at close centres, so no corner or beam junction is left open. Duct nets are given a lace-up access panel so plumbers and AC technicians can still reach their equipment.

Pigeon Nets — common questions
Does pigeon netting harm the birds?
No. Netting keeps birds out of a space rather than trapping, poisoning or injuring them. They simply move on to perch somewhere else.
How do plumbers and AC technicians get into a netted duct?
Duct nets get a lace-up access panel. It opens for the repair and laces closed again, so the net never has to be cut.
Why did pigeons get back in through my old net?
Almost always because an edge was left open — a corner by a beam, a gap round a pipe or a sag along the top. Pigeons find these within weeks. Sealing the whole perimeter to the structure is what closes them.
Can you net a whole building, or every duct in a block?
Yes. For apartment associations we survey the building and quote for all the ducts, or a full facade, as one job.
