Why balcony safety nets
Balcony safety nets are for families whose balcony is a risk as it stands — a toddler who has started climbing, a cat that sits on the parapet, a parent who steadies themselves on the rail. The net closes the entire opening from floor to ceiling, so there is no gap above the railing and nothing that needs to be opened, closed or remembered.

A balcony safety net closes the whole opening — the gap above a low parapet, the sides, right up to the ceiling — with knotless UV-treated mesh. On a wide balcony it is the most economical way to make the space safe for children and pets.
Why knotless netting
Knotted nets fail at the knot: the load concentrates where the strands cross, and that is where they wear and snap. Knotless mesh is made so that the strands pass through each other, spreading a load along the strand. It also lies flatter, looks neater and has no knots for a small hand or a claw to climb.
What balcony safety nets actually are
A balcony safety net is a sheet of strong mesh tensioned across the full balcony opening and fixed to the structure around its edges. Unlike a railing extension, it covers the whole height, including the gap between the top of the parapet and the ceiling. Knotless, UV-treated HDPE is the standard material because it stays strong in the sun and spreads a load evenly.

Materials and fixing
We fit knotless HDPE (high-density polyethylene) mesh that is UV-treated against sun damage, in a 2-inch square aperture. The net is edged with a braided border rope around its full perimeter and laced onto a stainless-steel wire rope, which is held on stainless-steel hooks drilled into the slab, walls and parapet so the mesh stays taut across the whole opening.

Balcony Safety Nets — common questions
Can a child or a pet break through a balcony net?
The mesh is made to hold the weight of a child or a pet pushing against it, and the perimeter tension stops it bagging outwards. Like any net it should be kept away from sharp objects, and a damaged section can be replaced on its own.
Will the net block light and air?
Very little. The strands are thin and most of each square is open, so the breeze and daylight come straight through.
Net or invisible grill — which should I choose?
A net covers the full height of a wide opening at a lower cost and suits balconies with low parapets. An invisible grill costs more but keeps a clearer view. We can quote both on the same visit so you can compare.
How long does a balcony safety net last?
It depends on how much direct sun the balcony gets. UV-treated HDPE lasts far longer than untreated netting; we will tell you what to expect for your balcony when we measure it.
